Black Lake Near Sharbot provincial park

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Black Lake Near Sharbot provincial park

Post by BIGSTEVE »

Hello!! Has anyone fished this body of water??? If so, could you tell me a little bit about clarity, quality, weedy/rocky, and type of species that are prominant. Also overall quality of fishing?

I've never had much success there.
The lake itself is pretty small, shallow (deepest is about 20 feet i think), and has some nice rocky shoals however with the provincial park there, it recieves heavy pressure.
That being said, I've been told it holds walleye and smallmouth. Personally, I caught 12" and smaller smallies, and some big bluegill but that's it.
Luckily, the park itself also borders on Sharbot lake. Sharbot is bigger, deeper and holds more species such as smallmouth, largemouth, pike, lake trout and walleye.
Plus, the provincial park has a beautiful deep launch, and docking available to leave your boat in the water overnight.
Hope this helps.

I've fished this lake just after the Walleye opener this season. Very little success for Walleye and Pike.

Did catch some reasonable Crappie, and a few OOS bass while bottom bouncing.

I would recommend Sharbot Lake as I've had better success there.

If decide to fish Black Lake feel free to drop my a PM and I'll set you up on a few "spots".

Thanks, Buzzer
