What do you do for a living????

The relation between work and fishing as you all know is like fire against water....they don't match up well for the most part of us anyways.

Take away work and we would probably tripple our time on the water fishing. But take away work and some of us wouldn't drive expensive boat and purchase expensive fishing gear. In the midle of Summer when days are extended from 4am till 9:30pm we can all have our share of time on the water. But comes October and we have a day light issue.

Some of us would probably wich they could live out of sport fishing by having serious sponsors....and I am one of them. But this dream we all have may not be as impossible as it looks. It's a work in progress that takes time, exposure and some thinking.

In the past I was an insurance broker for Bealair Direct and dam good at what I was doing. I the field of Sponsors I trully believe that no mather where you will go you will have to be be a good ''salesman'' of the product. Had to this a charismatic personality and you can start looking for sponsors. Start small and go outside the fishing industry...for now anyways. Slowly build yourself a resume. If you do well you will add up credibility and might have a chance at the big guns one day.
Next year I will have 3 companies under my belt (but still I need to keeep my day job)
For me It's a fun game to bring my favorite sport to another level and maybe one day I will get the ''Pro"" title. Till then I am a pipe layer and I love my job......what do you do for a living????????

hey OK...

electricen.......power dams..(all over the regions)

work on the turbines(the one that make the electricity) and the water level regulation dams.(the one that control the fluctuation on the water level).

LOVE the location good for fishing..and a lot off time outside(not fun in (-40and outside over the water...

)..but the rest off year its great.

yeah beeing sponsored must be something man!! I'd love to be sponsered by (booyah) or (lilhustlers) spinners baits cause i lose so many!

but hey thats part of fishing

!!!

My day job is beeing a plumber i only do new houses tho not the old unclog this put oyur hand in &*?*&!!

we do lots of cotages and i see alot of nice lakes were i would just lay down the pipes and start fishing !!!! when i start my buisness ill have a spot for my rod in my van dont you worry!

I am quite fortunate to be around BIG boats while at work. Work out of the Port of Hamilton as a Maritime Superintendent. Once we finish loading or unloading a 25000 MT ocean going vessel I onwind by launching my 75 lb Kayak.

As Joco says, kinda cold in December but the St Lawrence Seaway shuts down from end of December till beginning of April. Glad I don't have to paddle this baby.

Myself, I love to fish and just be away from the city and more so the phone. I am self employed. I get people that think this means taking a day off when ever I please. Sure thats what I thought too when I decided to become my own boss. Well now after 7 years of hard work and sometimes long hours. It is still not gotten any easier to take a sick day and cast a line. however I do not like to work weekends and this is when I can get out there on the water. Every once and awhile I do get the change to spend my lunch fishing the shore of a customers house or cottege.

Like this awsome man made lake that the owner built to waterski and he also stooked with 2500 walleye

We just had our first baby only 1 year ago. So fishing and hunting time have been reduced even more. Now my better half is back working part time as a nurse and it just so happens that her shifts include 2 weekends a months

But thats life. And I wouldent trade it for a pro fishing career. Maybe If I were single and had no children.....Maybe

We teach children about Life...
children teach us what life is all about!

Fishing to me is a release and a hobbie I love.

I can't wait till the day I can bring my little girl fishing.

Currently I am working at Orleans boat world. Im training in marine mechanics and I also shrinkwraping a s#!tload of boats. I am also at the one and only petsmart

for how much longer? I dont know

Hello All,

Good post!

Currently, I work part time at a Treatment Centre (Scotch Corners in C.P.) for youth with drug and alcohol addictions. I run the recreational program, as well as doing the occassional counselling and overnight shift.

My other part time job is that of a freelance outdoor writer and photographer. I'm a Field Editor with Ontario Out of Doors magazine, but work for many other magazines and websites, including Fishing Facts, Midwest Outdoors, sportsmansguide.com and basspro.com.

Also have a couple of sponsorship deals in the fishing industry.

Love working in this field, and it is a dream come true. Gotta love earning a living by casting a line!

All ways interesting to read what others do to pay for our passion.

I'm currently working as a Program Manager /Account Manager/Customer Rep for an Electronics Contract Manufacturer (EMS) in Ogdensburg NY.
The way the US economy is these days hopefully I'll still have one.

I'd love to be self employed but I know it would cut into fishing time.

we can t judge people by there job.

people can be a very bad as a doctor( and butt).and the greates guy as a garbage truck driver. and beleive i see some..in both kind.

we all have to work almost.some are done working(riterement)..

I work as a HVAC mechanic/gas fitter/ tin banger for a heating company here in Ottawa. It was nice last year when i was in school for it and could fish all the time, this year, lots of work and no time to fish! lol Especially now with all the furnaces being red tagged
