I think this prop. is as old as the engine itself (25 years old).
Recently hit a rock which chipped a wing.
What do you guys think I should do?

Fix it?
Change it?
Keep it the way it is?

I know we ain't all mechanics but I just want to hear your point of view!

JP from Lake and Trail was telling us about a guy in Stittsville who repairs props.
Try sending him a PM.

Fix it and keep it as a spare. Or just fix it and use it.

I've seen worst damage and it was still on the motor.

Jim's Machine Shop & Propeller Service (613-623-6300) in Arnprior does a really nice job. Had a few props done there.

If it works allright, just chill and enjoy the summer!

If it's making insane vibrations, weird sounds then asap get it checked out right away....

A liitle chip might not do anything....

Check how many different stampings it has on it. Every repair gets a different stamp. If it has been repaired twice already then... you might want to just ditch it and get a new one. Thing is with aluminium props when you weld them they have a tendency to soften. So every repair actually softens up the metal and before long even if you get it repaired just running the prop through heavy weeds will cause it to deform.

I had this happen with one prop and couldn't beleive it... until I saw it happening. I buy new now... newer props take a lot before they develop problems... trust me ... I have bumped a few off of logs and stuff and been suprised how sturdy the new props are.

Send it in for a touch-up. Lord knows the prop repair guys in this province will all be driving brand new Escalades after the water levels this past late-summer/fall ! :o

Another vote for fixing it.

If I through out every prop that had hit a rock on Loughborough Lake, I'd have kept a landfill in business.

They can be fixed up and perform very well, especially for an older motor that is still performing.

That may as well be a new prop. Wish mine were in that good of shape.
