UPDATE on Truck Through the Ice in Constance Bay
Well....it's 17:25 Jan 1, and there's still lots of action out here on the bay....There's a hired crew that came in this morning and they're still on the ice....the backhoe broke through the ice and has been trying to get the truck out but it's just not strong enough....one of the locals has now been hired to float his Hy-Hoe down to try and do the job.....wow...what a gong show...here's some pics...stay tuned!!...one more thing....they're estimating that this rescue/retrieval will be ~ $20,000

The lads brother-in-law is the insurance broker and was out checking the situation this morning.....RJ is correct..it's all taken care of by the insurance including replacing the truck due to it being less than a year old...Wallyboss wrote:RJ are you sure that insurrance companies will pay for this?? Driving on ice and going thru or Driving too fast in a snowstorm and wrapping your vehicle around a tree?
Both Stupid and Preventable....but you pay those ridiculous rates to protect your own stupidity..

P.S. I find it very hard to believe it would cost 20 grand to pull it out...there is no sense trying to save the truck now....just yank the heep out with the winch on that tow truck....they will need to make a path though...

I did ask twice my insurance.and they did say yes twice if they pay if i go true ice wit my suv...
so for my insurance no question they will pay.
mabe its not all insurance.company that will pay.so just dont go wit your bad truck on ice and get true.you might be in big troble,,hahaha.

It only took my buddy an hour before the truck and backhoe were "dragged" outa the water by his excavator....NICE JOB Terry!...I guess that all-inclusive trip down south is paid for and then some!!!
RJ...from what I've been told is that there were 4 pieces of equipment brought in for this job on New Year's day which is PREMIUM rates...each one of these were costing $300/hr for ~ 13hrs. (already that's 300 x 4 x 13hrs = $15,600)...not including the 3 hrs they spent on-site yesterday...this doesn't include the diver, or what my buddy will charge for floating his CAT excavator to the site and back and fees for doing the job pulling both vehicles out of the river..here's the final PIC
