Perch Eating

When i was a small boy my mom used to bring me out for some perch fishing down in Kingston Area. We used to bring home the few perch that we'd decide to keep and then she would clean them and fry them up for me. But she would always leave the tails on the fish. They were very tasty and very crunchy. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the oppourtunity to try perch tails? Its like eating potatoe chips, very very good snack. Anyways, just wondering who else enjoys the good fry of a perch tail?

Jason

maybe this should be a poll?

Jason,

When I was a little boy, every Sunday, after mass, dad would bring the hole family fishing to a stream in Poltimore and catch brookies.

As soon as we were back, dad would clean them and mom cook them in butter, no heads with the tails.

Sounds weird  but are indeed very good and crunchy, like you said " Its like eating potatoe chips". Man O Man what a treat!! :D

Looks like you're not the only one enjoying them.

That same stream runs through my cousins backyard on there farm  What a small world, some big chubs in there too :!: Still trout in there, every spring we target them off of the road as that's where some of the deeper pools are.

Perch, yep just love them. They have to be over 10'' and worthy of a fat belly with meat and not full of eggs of coarse.

i've done that too with brookies down in New Brunswick... cool... im not the only one... i always thought my parents were weird for cooking fish and eating the tails, but hey, they're good so i didn't dig too deep into the situation just in case they stopped cooking them like that... lol... a man's gotta eat right!!! or a boy

WOW... The Blue Anchor Bar ... I used to go there back in 1987 on Thursday nights ... they had draft and 5 cent hot wings! ... Imagine for $1.00 you got a plate with 20 hot wings .... and for $5.00 you got a jug of draft beer.... boy those were the days!
