I went to the Ottawa Sportmans show today and while at the Ontario Out Of Doors booth I started talking to one of the writers. Told him I enjoyed the magazine and liked the new format they started using. He said that he wishes more people would e-mail that kind of info to them because they get a lot of negative e-mails. We both agreed that this is probably an oversight from the people that enjoy the magazine. You know how people are, if it doesn't peeve them off they don't say anything. Me, I like the saying "if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all." So to my point, if you enjoy the mag help them out by sending a positive e-mail about their content.

I'd have to agree that this show is all about who you talk to and picking up the odd tip. I sat in on a couple of fishing seminars and had a chance to speak briefly with Big Jim and wish him well. Other than that I wasn't impressed. It's probably also worth while if you are looking for a boat. Lots to compare.

If you are a hunter or fisher looking for gear, save your money and stay home or simply visit your local retailers some of whom have sales on during the show.

Looking forward to the Valley Fishing Show in Carp come April because I know there will be a much larger retail presence.
