Might be a little more than an hour, but the bird sanctuary, past Upper Canada Village is as good as I've seen. The British tourists may be a little upset with me for putting this out there.

Ditto. any bay from Longue Sault to Iroquois. Evidently the St.Lawrence is the Mecca of Carp fishing. Who knew who cared?

I've never fished for carp, but I've always wondered about the rideau canal in Ottawa...in the morning, you see carp jumping all the time.
What's the carp fishing like there?

Trent River. Below just about any of the dams. A buddy of mine works for Parks Ontario at lock 15 in Campbellford and he has told me that hundreds of people fish for carp there. I guess there are some real monsters too!

I did, Caught a 25+pounder on 20lb power pro. Bigger is definitely better for gear, tho. The carp can get very big, and take very impressive runs. I'm new to F-H, and computers, apparently. If someone can tell me how to post a pic, I'll post it.[/img]
the experts will tell you you need at least a ten foot rod and a salt water baitrunner reel but the combo you have sould be fine. You might want to spool up with mono so you have a stretch factor. We used to catch them one after another with Zebco 202's and fibreglass rods when we kids!

YakAttack,
The Rideau Canal was probably the first body of water I fished way back when. I'll never forget that stick and white string

We used to fish under the Laurier St bridge, downtown. The carp are big mainly because they are Ottawa river fish who come up the locks. I've also caught eels, barbot, and crappie there too.
We used to make our version of the now available dough balls. You need that kind of bait there otherwise you'll be catching panfish.
