There is only so much tackle I can sort trying not to go crazy waiting for ice out.
I cant take it anymore so I load the truck up and head out in search of some soft water. The weather is perfect, its so nice in fact I a have good ol truckers tan going on just from the drive up.
After stopping at a few different lakes I find one of my lakes 75% ice free and the remaining ice soft enough to break through to sweet laker heaven.

Ahh trolling for lakers in my T-shirt (and pants) with the sun beaming down melting the last of the ice. 8)

I start to mark fish at 10'-15' and I there are even lakers hitting the surface close to the canoe. This is going to be a awsome day.
That is until I hear the trolling motor kick down in speed. :o
Looks like the new battery I bought last year has been fried by my 2nd replacement fancy digital intelligent  battery charger I picked up at C.T.
Hardly made it back across the lake and had to pack it up.
Oh well was good to get out and more lakes should open up by next weekend.

S.M.05 saying IF IT SMELLS LIKE TROUT GET YOUR ROD OUT

Tomcat you hit the nail on the head. Forgot the paddles at home  . Had a chunk of drift wood but it didnt cut it out on the lake with the breeze.
