Hi every one. Iam going to buy a reel soon, and I have narrowed it down to four reels. The Shimano sahara, the Pflueger president, and the Okuma alumina, and epixor. The problem is every thing I looked up on the web ,and books tells me the sahara, and Okuma reels are better reels. The four tackle shops I went to all say the Pflueger president is the reel to buy, and it has been the number one selling reel for the last two years. But unlike the other reels the pflueger does not have aluminum frame or corrosion free bearings. DO you need them ? and what do you think is the better reel and why? thanks every one.

I own a Plfugger and an Okuma and what I can tell you is that the Pflugger seems smoother than the Okuma when they are both new, but for some reason the more I use both of them the better the okuma gets . The Pflugger seems to be getting a bit sloppy in the bearings but the Okuma went from being a bit tight when new to nice and smooth after 2 years of use. I can't help you about the Shimanos,
First off they are all good reels. One thing you want to consider is that if you ever have a problem with the Phlugger there is not alot of places that repair them. I am kind of one sided since I work with Okuma but I believe they have the best drag system on the market. Shimano makes an excellent quality product as well.
As Walleyboss said as you use the Okuma reels they get smoother. The Alumina is a lighter real than the Epixor but both have the same multi drag washer system.
Just my 2 cents.

Using 8 lb line as the my line choice, I quickly compared all the models that hold 8 lb as suggested on their websites.
I like to use crankbaits with fast retrieves so I would pick the Sahara 2500 series because it has the highest gear ratio, 6:1, and 30" line retrieve compared to 25" for the Okuma's. Pflueger didn't specify line retrieve but the gear ratio, 5.x:1 was close to the Okuma. The Sahara was also the lightest in weight of all four.
Maybe you can use your own fishing preferences to narrow your choice down?
