Boater's Exam Requirements?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Boater's Exam Requirements?

Post by wolfe »

Just wondering if someone can remind me of the requirements of the boater's exam -- I recall it was mandatory for a certain size boat / engine, but can't remember much else.

It would apply to US citizens as well?

Thanks folks.

I wrote it about a month ago. Pretty straight forward, just have to watch out for the wording of the multiple choice answers. :)

Now, if they just enforced all this on regular basis ...
I never ever for the past 2 years noticed any officer on the Ottawa river
(East end) and I'm on water 4 times a week.

I just heard that for popular lakes, such as Christie(Perth), the police are out there on a regular basis. I heard that they weren't really checking for pleasurecraft licenses, but they were looking for drinking alcohol while boating. I don't fish the Perth area any more because the walleye are fished out(Crosby Lake, Christie Lake, Black Lake). The police are on these lakes constantly because the cottagers are always making complaints about the drinking by people in boats.

I wish the police visited on regular basis the Blair boat launch site . Drunken and pot smoking teens trowing bottles while friends Seedooing
are common site there ... Last year they managed to sink canoe with wave action right at the shore. They also love to repair them right on the water including oil changes.
