Well after hearing the weather forecast for the next few days, rain and more rain and possible thunderstorms :? decided to take the day off today and head down to one my haunts to see if the perch were home..

They weren't around in great numbers during my time there 11:00-3:00pm but I got enough for a snack! :D

All were caught on minnows for the most part, some of the white perch were caught on worms ( I just had to try it)

Hoping to get out Saturday for the smallies and hopefully out on Sunday for some Lake Ontario bruisers! :D

White Perch are technically deemed to be an invasive species and a pest by some anglers who are trying to fish for other things. I'm not sure of their range but they are in Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

They spawn this time of year like yellow perch do, they can be easily confused with silver bass, white perch have no stripes on them, their face sort of resembles a whitefish.

If you get some of the bigger fish they taste pretty good, some say they have a "fishy" taste but couldn't prove it by me, taste like yellow perch to me.

Also if there is a school around you'll have a blast with them. :D
