Im planning on fishing and camping on Crotch for the first time in a couple of weeks, can anyone suggest a good campsite number? preferably not on an island. Thanks.

Why not an island. You pretty much need a boat to get to any campsite on Crotch lake.

Why not an island? Because the chances of finding any good fire wood is usually 0.

The amount of trees that have fallen in that area in the last few years will make finding firewood easy...Just before evening go around and collect fallen branches etc. You will get enough wood for sure and help clean up the forest A good 12ft tinny can hold enough wood for a day and a half...I have done it before myself.

Or just make a visit to the lodge. Ward has lots of wood and I am sure he would get you what you need. And as Almonte said, plenty of wood on the islands. Just tour around the shorelines there is tonnes of wood washed up all over the place.

Thanks for the response guys. I have never been to that lake before and I am not too sure what to expect. I am planning on camping and fishing the south part of the lake unless the fishing is better in the north section. Im not really a walleye fisher, lots of brookie fishing for me, but from what Ive read here I should be jigging the humps and trolling off the shoals down about 20-30 fow? Fishing from a 14 ft tinny with an 18hp. Should I try jigging with leeches or worms?

if you want to stay at the narrows (which puts approx in the middle)
stay at sites (think) 56,57,or 58

thats where i usually stayed before they numbered the sites

as for for wood, not a prob,
20 minutes of your day and your done
we usually piled wood for the next person

fish the narrows at night
also jumbo perch in that area
