Hi guys,

First time poster. Great information on this board. I'm having a bit of a dilemma trying to find the best fishing lodge & lake to take the Mrs. She gave me the ok to pick a fishing destination for August or Sept anywhere in Ontario, and I need to find a fishing lodge which is nice, (not too rustic), has perhaps some sort of shopping or entertainment somewhat close by, but most importantly has excellent fishing to keep her & I busy. We primarily fish for large & smallmouth bass and I have gear for pike as well. ANY recommendations from experience would be greatly appreciated. As you guys know this is a make it or break it trip by bringing the woman with me. If its no good its probably the last one I go on for a long time, and we cant have that! Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Stirling Lodge--Newboro lake---Great bass fishing--The Wife loves to shop in Westport --Great food in area also. Newboro has some go shopping as well. My Wife recommends it highly.

I used to fish Newboro 20 years ago as a kid with my grandfather. Fishing was kind of slow and tons of boat traffic. Has it improved over the years? We were considering Fireside Lodge, but there's not much information out there about them. Wife just told me that shopping isnt necessary now so I'm wide open as far as where we can go.

Not slow fishing---Lotsa bass---Only "traffic" is those passing thru to the locks--I fish the coves & bays so they don't bother me at all--also I'm from the states so traffic around here means 100's of boats on a weekend at the lake. From the lodge go left past the cabins until you see a cabin with moose antlers on the deck overlooking the lake. SMILE & WAVE--I might be there.

Another choice for that area is: http://www.pineglenlodge.ca/ on Clear lake.
We took the kids there every year for a week in the end of August. Less boat traffic and still good fishing.

The pine lodge on clear is decent but I would recommend Opinicon Lodge on Chaffey's lock. Great place, great service, brown's marina right by if you need anything. Been staying there for the past 10 years. Before that it was pritchard's cabins on newboro. I would avoid sterling lodge.

Great fishing and all the stores you need.

I'd recommend to check out the Adventure Center listings right here on Fish-Hawk for great places to go. There are even Fish-Hawk Stories about a few of them that might help you understand the scenery, type of body of water, and the fish that were caught.

My wife and I enjoyed Land O Lakes lodge on Crotch Lake. It was the American plan. They rent nice 40 hp 16ft Rebel Lund with df and electric motors.

Guide is a $100.00 and well worth the money.

Right next door is Tumblehome lodge and several of the people on this message board have stayed there. They're more geared for housekeeping.
