Has anyone had much success with Muskie this year. May I be so bold to ask what would the best lure or bait people use?

The only one that I've seen was a monster that hit a perch that I was about to pull out of the water. Didn't hook him, but he was a biggun. We were about 1km upstream from Kars. We promptly broke out our biggest rapalas. but he was long gone.

Try casting spinner baits and jerk baits along the weed lines, pay special attention to the channel markers.
You can also troll the channel with crank baits.

Make sure you've got "muskie gear" or those biggest rapalas you break out could be death traps for muskies after they take them from you........
If you hook a muskie on perch gear they'll take your baits and could break your rods....that wouldn't be fun.
40lb muskies on 8-10lb test doesn't work.

We were fishing with heavier tackle - the perch was an untargeted catch. It's funny how sometimes the bait is larger than the catch.
Thanks for the tip, though. You're right about the consequenses if one of those big lures break off and the fish can't throw it.
