fishing balsam lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Balsam is a great multi lake fishery
Best baits for me have always been:
Musky - bucktails cast ito and around weedbeds, trolling weedlines with large cranks - believers, jakes, and rapala super shad raps
LM Bass - wacky rigged yum dingers, plastic frogs, spinnerbaits, and smaller, fat cranks - like the rapala fat rap, coredell big o - crayfish or perch colour
SM bass - wacky rigged yum dingers, spinner baits, topwater (jitterbugs, poppers and chug baits), cranks - my favourite is a perch coloured fat free shad by bomber - 7-12 ft model
Walleye - trolling stickbaits around weed edges, drifting weededges and channel contours with spinner rigs w worms/leeches or minnows, jigging wedd edges - jig and minnow combo

We got a 45 inch muskie there 3 weeks ago. As soon as I figure out how to put up pics, I will show it. Right in front of the park, huge waves, and she hit a worm harness!
