In regards to browns...They are in the britania area and in the duchenes rapids but are very hard to find or hook up with, that area gets very shallow and clear and tends to make for spooky fishies

,I have seen a few pulled last year from that area,in Sept last year my partner went 2 for 2 in the rapids using brown wolly buggers under a float.1st you would go live bait I>E small minnows, worms, bugs of sort.On the fly is your best bet patterns are up to you, small spinners and mini cranks are a good go to bait aswell.always use a light lead or light line for they have real good sight and can be real picky too.Early morn and dusk to dark are your best times to target them, though they can be caught throughout the day also.If you r willing to take a drive towards Kingston the fall when the salmon run is prime time for browns!!!The norm set up is a float rig which I have posted before and they are real whoppers that time of year too!!!If you have any ? regarding where to go,what to use,and when I am more than happy to offer my tips to you!!!
I have been goin past Kingston for years and have a few honey holes for browns in the fall.So any ? plz fire away!!! T.L F.F

I've been here five years now and have enjoyed fall chinook at Kingston Mills, Millhaven Creek and Napanee River all on my float rod but haven't experienced any browns. Any suggestions? Mitch

Those rivers are a little slower for the browns from what I've seen.
If you travel a little further and try the ganny, wilmont, and esp oshawa creek towards the middle to end of the salmon run the browns are pretty thick in those creeks! Low light cons are still better out there too but in the daylight just try to fish deeper pools thats where they will be,also around log jams and other impenetrable structure

.I will keep you posted for sure on the ottawa area browns too will be out for them shortly!!!

Browns are one fish that I'd like to see more of in the perth area.
I'm not of a fan of float rods though, they seem like more bling than a tool. Our annual spring trips to the Ganny were always productive for trout. Heavy line on a thick 6 foot pole always landed more fish than those young fella's wit the 15 foot poles and palm reels.
fishing during the runs... ;o)

I'd love to try float fishing but I don't know the edicate and/or what to use.
Also don't know what type of gear would be needed.. i.e. what type of fly rod weight and length, do I need one of those big noodle rods?
Currently I own two fly rods... 8 weight is the heaviest but I can can't cast very well and/or far. Own various bait rods up too 6'6" heavy with all the rest being lighter. Can any of this gear be used?
I'd just love to hook into a real nice fish that I haven't caught before (
Salmon and/or Brown), and learn some new methods of fishing.
Advice?
Thanks, Buzzer
