I am heading to Charleston Lake for some Lakers before the season ends, can anyone tell me Where the fish are in the lake, about how deep and what works well for bait? I appreciate any info you can provide. Thx.

Last time I was out most of them were caught on lead core using spoons.
It'll be hard to say "where" the fish are...

Charleston is a good numbers lake, but I have found not for size (this is MY opinion and obviously others may differ!)

Move around and look for the schools.

Last few times I've been out, the skunk passed very close.

The fish have been very deep (80+) (very few printing higher the 60 even at 6:30am) and with the bright and warm weather since last Friday, they will likely remain there for the rest of the season.

smaller size narrow spoons have been the ticket or minnows on a gang troll.

Try fishing deep water and the eastern waters from huckleberry hollow up the narrow stretch. I have had my best success in these sections of the lake. I have to agree with dartee as far as bait or lures goes I like NK in blue/silver, dartees, sutton spoons. But if they aren't biting spoons I would definitely give a gang troll/minnow a try. Good luck!

Well,
We went to Charleston and dragged the water the entire day. Marked lots of fish in exactly where they were supposed to be..... used spoons, minnows, down riggers, and lead core. Nada, zip, zilcho, zero..... SKUNKED! :( But, we had lots of fun! Lakers will just have to wait until next year.... Time for Musky fishin!!!! woo hoo.
