Has anyone heard anything about a Bass Pro Shop opening in Ottawa? My neighbour mention that while he was at the one in Vaughn, one of the staff mentioned that one was coming to Ottawa and someone else I know mentioned it was going to be located in Stittsville. Their website doesn't show Ottawa as a future location.

I hope this isn't true.

BPS is opening a store in Mirabel in the same location Cabela's was once going to.

Unless BPS is doing "mini-stores" it is hard to see a BPS opening one of their regular stores in Ottawa when Mirabel is "close enough".

A BPS in Stittsville would be weird considering it would take up most of the downtown.

No news releases from BPS to suggest that it is on hold.

The mall is being built on schedule in Mirabel.
Cabela's was supposed to go in there. They even bought SIR, it is rumored they did so as they wanted it to be their Canadian distribution point. However, I heard that as BPS in TO hasn't done as well as expected Cabela's got cold feet. I think they plan to open out west.
I would doubt it very much if BPS opened in Ottawa. There are stores that are licensed to re-sell their products. Baitcasters being one of them.

I would not welcome BPS to Ottawa. We have many fine local tackle shops in the area that need to continue to be supported. Pretty much everyone of them can order stuff from BPS and Cabelas if they already don't carry a certain product.
I personal still haven't gone to the BPS in Toronto. Other than just seeing the store and the set-up, I have no need to go there.

For things like decoys and big deals on clothing I would venture down to BPS. However, for rods, tackle, line, ammo, etc I'll alwasy support the local shop.

BPS would make a fortune in the ottawa area. Currenty, there's too many small shops that are under stocked. They can all "order' you something, but you can do that yourself online. Those that are stocked are full of old stock. I'm not even going to start on their over priced retails.
Bring on bps.

There's no point in beating a dead horse. This was thrashed in a similar thread months ago. Ottawa is too small to support any "large" outdoor retailer. If you're luck the one in Mirabel will open.

Jamsers as per Bass Pro Shop????
"With its Vaughn, Ontario location serving as one of Bass Pro Shops' top performing stores, we look forward to the impact its anchor presence will have on both retailers and visitors alike as we continue to move ahead to develop Lac Mirabel as one of Canada's most distinctive attractions for shopping and entertainment."
