My Dad is gonna be visiting me again and he's definitely hoping I can get him out fishing a few times. He's visited before and we hit Petrie Island and Lake Madawaska a few times and had a lot of fun, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of new places we can throw my canoe in to fish for some bass/pike/walleye?
I've been searching through the archives here and I'm looking into Fitzroy, Morris Island Conservation Area, and maybe a bit south on the Rideau. Does anyone have any other suggestions on some new general areas to try from a canoe? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Well with a canoe the opportunities within an hour or so of Ottawa abound. Just grab a map and pick a spot. Just south of Port Elmsley you can put in from the side of the road. It looks interesting, although I have not had the opportunity to fish it yet.
Thanks for the info guys! I think we'll definitely hit the Morris Island and Fitzroy area this weekend and see how it looks. I've never actually been there so it'll be all new to me
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to launch a canoe in Lake Madawaska that puts me closer to some of the bass spots a bit more upstream than the White Lake road launch? We spent a day on the water with Kert (a.k.a. The Muskie Stalker) and he put us on to some amazing bass fishing and showed us 6 or 7 great spots (Not to mention, got my Dad his first musky!). But when we launched my canoe a month later to try to find those spots, we ended up fishing the areas just west of the White lake road launch because that is one biiiiig lake to be paddling on! Especially with the wind we were fighting! I certainly missed not being on a real boat. Hahaha
