Walleye/Calabogie

Hi all, Hope everyone had a great summer out on the water. I tried to do some internet searching for info on walleye fishing in White lake near Calabogie but didnt get far. Was wondering if any Hawkers have had any good or bad experiences fishing for eyes on White lake. Thinking of going up next weekend.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They are there but very hard to get...I do not know what it is about that lake but they must have a huge area they move around in. Most of the lake is weeded water about 10ft-13ft with the odd pocket around 20-30ft. I have caught some in White Lake but most locals who fish it all the time say that it is slow to midland for walleye...What the midland is I do not know but that is the expression they say Try your typical worm and hook with bottom bouncer but be sure to check your bouncer a lot for weeds. I would also try anything white...Right BA

However, I work with the owner of T-Bel cottages and her husband and a few friends get walleye all the time there. It's probably one of those lakes that are really difficult to find the schools, but once you do, things work out well.

As far as I know, they fish the main lake channel for them (which I guess is pretty obvious since it's generally a lake full of shallow finger-like bays).

If you want to go walleye fishing White Lake is not the place to go. That's not to say they aren't there but they are few and far between. My brother in-law puts on a mini derby for the guys he works with and we go up there twice a year. We will be up there this weekend. I have caught walleye there but for the amount of time put in and the results it just doesn't seem to be worth it. It could just be me but I have tried everything and the results were minimal. Have caught a few 21"and 22" walleye and have seen a 6 lb. one caught. Another thing to remember is that unless you are going to keep walleye smaller than 14", and I don't think you will, then the limit is one walleye. You can check that in the regs. If you really want to go to White Lake then I suggest to take along you Bass gear.

If you use the Map of White Lake on the Fish-Hawk Map project section it gives you a pretty good idea of the size of the lake and certain areas you can try. I've only ever had luck at Pickerel Bay and trolling with tube jigs.

But I agree with most in saying that if you are going for Walleye, try somewhere other than White Lake.

But if you're going for Bass and Pike, White Lake is a great spot.

Thanks all for the honest responses. Im triing to find a decent lake/cottage a little bit away from Ottawa that will keep my girlfriend happy with things to do, and keep me happy with fishing for eyes. I think I'll try Calabogie
Again, thanks for all the input. Any tips for Calabogie this time of year, outside of bouncers and harnesses?? Are they in the main basin?
