Well, hit the Otatwa on Saturday, we were trolling Jakes and ShallowRaiders in and around 12-20 FOW and had this guy hit around 830am. While taking the hooks out of his mouth, he jerked and pulled one pretty well through my thumb, so now I have a treble in my thumb and two are still in the fish. Managed to get through it, pulled the hook...AND THE BARB....out of my thumb while in the boat. We stayed out for about another hour more but with all ther blood and the sore thumb focus wasn't quite there, so we called it a day. Not bad though for just over an hours worth of work.
Nice fish for only an hour of fishing but OUCH that hook through the thumb adventure is not a fun experience. I always have a pair of side cutters handy for just such occassions. They are good for cutting off a treble that is well imbedded in the fish so you don't have to overly stress or hurt the fish and definitely an easier way of getting the hook out of the finger by cutting it off the lure first.
