can anyone give me any info on frabill shelters,specifically the 3 man ,theres a potential deal out there and i might check it out if worthy.any info woild be great.

Which one are you looking at ? ... the flip-over or the suit-case model.

from the pic i've seen it looks like the outback model, just waiting 4 reply from the seller to get more info, just wanna know from this community if anyone had probs with it .,likes or dislikes.the clam 2000 is on sale at cabelas for 200$,but shipping cost!

I can probably be of some help here. I had a Venture model from this company a few years back, which I sold to a buddy of mine for a hundred bucks. This is exactly the same model as the one your looking at, only with a name change.
Althought it was fairly well constructed, and held its own in the wind, you really do need to anchor it. It also takes two people to set it up. There are ways of setting it up with one person, but it was almost impossible to do. When fishing by myself, I always left it home.
So .. bottom line, .. if your always fishing with a buddy, its not a bad buy. If you fish alone, skip it and to with a Clam product, either a pro or a scout.

I also had the venture and got rid of it. If there was any wind it was impossible to set up on the ice, and how many days are there no wind when your ice fishing! Your best to go witha flip top, I dont think the brand name matters so much, just make sure its a flip top.

you can get the clam 2000 at lebarons for 250$ just gotta wait until ice fishing supplies are out.


i personaly have the clam 2000, you can fish 2 people in there comfortably. get a buddy heater and you'll be in your t-shirt fishin' in -25 degree.

you can either get an anchoring system for the clam, or pile up some snow around the base, that ususaly helps on a windy day. but it takes 1 hour to make an anchoring system, so why not.

the flip top shelters are great, but if you own a car, and not a pickup or suv, or van. then you'll have a little problem getting it in the car. i know some people who have strapped it to the roof of their car.

the clam 2000 fits in the trunk of my car. very light, and has a floor, which the fliptop shelters don't. you're feet will stay a little dryer and warmer.

anyways do the research and get one that suites your fishing/comfort needs. but get it soon. ice is coming!!

I agree with D-mo.....with two people its an amazing little shelter...
It would be difficult to set it up with only one person with any amount of wind.
Pickup a small Coleman heater and you can spend many many hours of enjoyment on the Hard Water. Tons of room.
Looking forward to this winter and getting back out with it.
