that happend to me a few years ago

about a mid 40s muskie wash up on my beach

its always a sad site to see

i would say 90% sher on the..

last year saw a 52 inch musky on the rideau on shore.

sher some will die frome other factor.

but its almost always the release and the how bad it was hookt wen caught.

this is why we have to be more then crefull to reale as fast as possible and and keep the fish in water the more the better.

take those pictures realy fast.

and have the right tools to do the job.etc.

you should have opened his mouth and cheked for traces of hook marks and if the musky was hooked deep...

or maybe thats just to digusting...

saw one early this summer and it was about 45 50 inches had hook marks in it and it was not eaven in season soo that just shows how much people care

Whats sad about a dead fish

I think what lifeisfun was trying to say, is not as much as the dead fish being sad, but that some anglers might not properly release the fish, and just don't care about the fish, that's sad. But, it does happen, maybe just hooked deep, or in the gills, or can also be a natural cause.

Now that's one musky pic that doesn't give you a rush....too bad. It was well on its way to getting sizeable.

Eventually yes but hopefully not if you are in prime of your life ...

Usually when you see them early in the spring, it's a result of being caught through the ice, hooked deep, played until exhausted or the shock of being pulled into the cold or held out too long.
A thing to remember with muskies is that they are really wimps. They're big and strong but stress out easily. They're like a big strong guy, lots of power but little stamina. That's why it's recommended to use heavier tackle and keep the fight as short as possible so that the fish doesn't exhaust itself or stress itself outcompletely. Many may swim away but belly up later on.
