Met up with a group of fellas down at Quinte this weekend for our annual Quinte trip....this is our 5th year in a row meeting up to put a hurtin on the migratory eyes....
The fishing was as expected with most boats landing at least 10 fish and some having big numbers....one boat alone took 19 on Friday....big fish of the weekend was a 12 pound 10 Oz eye.....a few giant freakshow Sheephead made their way aboard as well....
Ran into Andy_L and BadgerShark at the ramp in Picton as we stayed right at the Tip of the Bay......hopefully they got onto some fish today with a few hints thrown their way after a tough Saturday....you can never have enough info on this type of fishing.....
Great report and nice pics!!!...That's a dandy eye your wife caught RJ!!...those pics you posted were from Friday I take it, because the weather looks great.....How was Saturday ????
I actually boated the biggest one... She grabbed it for the double shot as I was working getting the other from the net...dirty dog... ..it was in the 32 inch range....the one I'm holding was around 10 I'd guess....agreed Steve....that is the biggest October fish I've seen....
Thursday was great....Friday was do-able...Saturday was do-able as well but very heavy rain....we passed on Saturday and hung in the hotel and let the others go out, they all did well in that pouring rain....we had our fill of it by then...
Saturday was brutal though, winds weren’t too bad but the rain was nasty. The bilge ran about every half hour for most of the day. We managed a 10-13oz but should have changed the technique up earlier and maybe too could have been posting up double headers.
As far as the temp goes west of the ferry and throughout Picton bay area it was around 53.5 - 54 degrees. We were only east for a while and decided to retreat
