So we started about noon or so.
I took the lead with the spud. Immeadiately got a warm fuzzy feeling when it took 5 good whacks to bust through.
We had a solid 4-5 inches so off we went.

Once out to 18 fow we chiseled several holes and got to rearin!!!!
Boy did that feel great.Nothing huge ,but I was only after picklers anyway for the G-T-G.
I have this mission to ruin you guys from eating reagular pickled herring.

I must say I love my new Austin rod and the Artic Armor was great.

Rick caught a decent gill that gave him the best fight of the outting.

He was bearing down ....I asked to get him to pose ,but he had no time as fish were chasing his Jig.

He ran chart./black and I went to chart/pink.

We are going to try to find those better gills tommorow.

In closing I have to say that I'm bushed.
What a great feeling.After the ribeye I have a bunch of crappies to clean and get into the salt brine....getting them ready for the pickling brine.

Hardwater season is almost upon us here. couple more days wait though.

cool to see some ice fishing report now.

i have seens a couple reports now for this season..most in the usa..nice stuff.
and we did start to see some frome B.C etc..and some last week report frome NWT..so been seeing report for a week now..we will start to see more and more now i gues..and this is great


4 to 5 inch is realy good.might take a week or a bit more to get this here,but it will come.

im happy,,, as soon as i saw this,,, i took out my ice fishing tackle box,, and now im makin some rigs...yahoo

Not only looks shaweet,it's a total pleasure to fish.
I can't count how many times I looked away from my flasher to talk to Rick and I'd feel that thump.

Tip Up said you guys could use an ice report so I came over to give y'all a taste on n.Mn.
The fish are all cleaned and in the brine as I type.
Gonna hit her again tommorow.

At the G-T-G we will be on a bigger lake with bigger slabs.

Nice to se some peoples out icefishing thanks to sharing .

I fillet the fish and put them into the salt brine for 24 hours.Then I'll rinse the meat about 5 times,you really need to give a heavy rinse.
Then I'll put in a gallon glass jar or ice cream pail.Add 2 onions,2 cups of sugar 1/2 a bottle of pickling spice and cover with white vinegar.
Every day I shake up the bucket for 14 days and then it's ready to eat.

It's sooo easy and tastes so gooooooood!
When the guys stop in,I'll break some out.There is never a piece left even onion and juice.
