european pike

hey guys just a question i keep hearing that pike look diffrent in europe like in this video

but to me that looks like a tiger muskie and everywhere i have looked only has pictures of pike that look like the ones we have here can anyone maybe shed some light on this cuz i'm haveing a hard time beliveing that that is a pike in that video

thought so some guy on there is telling me that all pike in england look like that

I think northern pike are the only circumpolar species in the family. The chain and grass pickeral and muskie are indigenous to only north america but I'd imagine they've been stocked everywhere. I kinda thought it was a pike, the markings on that fish are really similar to juvenile pike and the rounded tail suggests it's one as well. But I'd meet halfway and call it a tiger muskie
Nice clip though but I'd rather be eating the trout.

i thought it was a bit big to be a juvinile pike and from what i read tiger muskies have rounded tails also cuz they are a mix of the 2

Definately a western european pike, that guy is right bonesey there is a striped colour phase common in western europe. Google european pike pictures and look through some pics and you will see some really cool looking striped pike

common names are so variable..it's tough when a pickeral is a common name for chains and grass in the pike family but when you're in eastern Ontario pickeral refers to fish in an entirely different familly
at the sametime geneticist keep trying to come up with new names for genetically distinct populations and it seems they are constantly changing and re-evaulating the scientific name
i guess in the end, fish embodies them all

wow they are pretty cool looking looks like they also have spotted ones also but still this is my favorite picture i found f the striped ones.
but i also found this which doesn't seem to have the european pike listed

yea i can still see it fine
but its basically a picture that tells you hw t identify the speicies of pike muskie and walleye and has pictures and descriptions of what the look like.

There are DEFINATELY different species of pike even in Canada that have specific and varied markings... I know of a lake west of Edmonton, just north of Edson Alberta that has stripes on its sides... but its definately PIKE. They are also GREEN in colour.
