i was thinking about an inflatable, but since i saw the porta-bote, i havnt

stopped thinking about it.....

Buy a float tube or a hobie cat.

They're cheaper and more portable, and the waders you'll have to buy with them can come in handy for other types of fishing.

Otherwise just buy a boat.

My two cents.

Uplifta, I have seen them before and they seem like a great idea. If they do everything they say they will, it sounds like a winner.

I have to second guess their performance numbers though. They sound pretty optimistic.

I own a 10' Portabote. This is my third year using it.

It's a great little rig and I'd definately recommend it over an inflatible. The hull weighs about 50lbs .. it's a little unweildly but if you're of average strength you shouldn't have to much trouble with it. I throw mine on top of my civic hatchback and go.

The material it's made of is very tough. The boat is stable enough for two people to stand and cast - and with with my 6hp outboard it comes to a plane quickly and moves suprisingly fast.

There's also a yahoo group devoted to the topic with quite alot of activity.

The only drawback is the setup and take down time.. which is about 10-15 minutes. That said.. I've set up the boat and been on the water faster than others launching their full size boats have. You also have the ability to access water when an official launch isn't around.
