Guys/Gals

I'm thinking of giving my Princecraft a face lift and I'm considering painting the outside hull. Has any one done this.?? How were the results? Is there a special type of paint required?

Thanks for any info.

Hi Muskymagnet,
I repainted my very worn Sportspal canoes using aluminum primer (Zinc Chromate) and regular automotive laquer spray paint from Canadian Tire. They came out fine. It not a factory finish but it did not cost factory prices either....
Good luck and let us know how it comes out.

It all depends what kind of finish you want. I bought my boat a few years ago and it was pretty beat up. I did a light sanding and used galvanised metal primer. I used 3 coats with a light sanding between coats. Then I used 2 coats of Tremclad aluminum finish paint, again with a light sanding between coats. I used a foam roller to apply. I added stripes on it and voila. The paint shows no signs of wanting to lift after 3 years.

Obviously not a factory finish. All depends in what your looking for.
