We want pike! We want pike!

A slow morning turned into fast pike fishing when the clouds parted enough for the sun to come through.

Image

Casting spinnerbaits and cranks in 3 to 15 feet of water produced a number of pike like the one Peter is holding.

Image

And like the pike he isn't holding. Dems are wiggly pikes and not easy to juggle!

I had a 10 lb muskie grab my spinnerbait beside the boat for a second.
And a 30 inch pike gave chase to the boat as well. That's true - I swear it!

Image

Bobber with company on this fine day. They're jigging for catfish, as were so many other boats on this fine day.

It was a fine day indeed.

Image

Blair to Bobber What kind of bait do you think I should try now Bobber.
Bobber to Blair What every angler has to have in their tackle box - a Big O!
Blair to Bobber My goodness - I'm afraid your Big-O is snagged on the bottom and is now rapidly swimming away.

Image

Blair's Big-O bags a 38 inch musky on medium spinning gear!

Image

And now it is time for the weekly nature shot. Here is a water snake that took his chances slithering across the Mississippi.

Image
And here the snake says Good-bye.

great pictures Mike, just one question....What are you guys using for leaders? Have you experimented at all with fluro leaders? Do you use a heavy or light steel leader? Black or silver?

Sorry for the questions, just curious as to what others are using.

I am not sure what Blair was using with his Big O. Something tells me he didn't have a leader on.

But usually with the pike fishing we are using a leader with the spinner bait. Today I was using silver. last week I was using black.

Hey Mike

It was leaderless. just the big O on a swivel. I think it was only 8lb test on that rod as well.
