Would anyone have any tips for me using a worm bait house? {If that's what it is actually called} I built a wooden box with a screen bottom, used good earth, newspaper to help keep the moisture and I cover it with a piece of plywood. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!!! :?:

fishingal,

I remember as a kid we had a worm box that my Dad built. It was really low maintenance, but one thing you may or may not already know is keep it COOL. Keep it out of sunlight, or partially buried, perhaps. I was pretty small and don't remember any particulars, but it sounds like you've got a pretty good habitat started for the worms.

Layer it, dirt on the bottom with a layer of torn up newspaper, then dirt, then newspaper, and so on. Make sure the top is layered in soil. This will give your worms food & bedding, and they will reproduce rather quickly with this setup. The newspaper keeps them fat, healthy & lively too for the most part. If you can - keep it in a fridge, if not a cool basement or at very least shaded area will do. Adding in a cup of cool water in the soil every week or so will also do wonders.
