Made Up For Lost Time

Well it has been a while that I have reported or been out fishing so I have made up for lost time in the last week.

Managed a few trips, for a few reasons, needed a good feed of fish and needed to feel that pulse on the end of a rod. Managed to acomplish both and replenish the supply of white fish for the smoker.

Also got to try out the new Humminbird ICE 45 and it is awsome, I dont know how I have fished for so long without a flasher.

The new flasher at work.

Next order to hit the lake and put the old buckshot to work and see how this flasher works.

So we have the lake the flasher and we are set up here is the start of the results (Like I said it had been a while and my buddy and I needed a few white fish for the smoker and a meal).

The start of a great day.

We ended up landing several white fish a walleye and a pike and a few perch, but this trip was about getting some white fish, it felt good to feel that constant pulse on the end of the rod and the old buckshot and ice 45 worked excelent. (It was amazing watching the fish come in on the bottom and work them up and get them to bite, it also amazed me at how many fish I have missed in the past with the number of fish just below the surface.

We took home 10 white fish.

Now the reasons I love white fish is they fight awsome and the taste, smoked and chowder.

The chowder

The smoked white fish, the only better smoked white fish is the fish you are eating while you are out fishing.

Now with a supply of fish for the smoker and chowder it is time to get down to buisness and get some good old walleye and crappie for a fish fry. mmmm nothing better that fried crappie that maybe white fish.

Hit the lake set up the hut and ice 45 and off we go, walleye and crappie.

Ended up with 12 nice slabs all on the bottom no fish suspended and 2 walleye mixed in with them. I can already here the oil sizzling in the pan. Now that we have done the white fish, crappie and walleye. What next, over a cold beverage and some spicey thai crappie we decided lets venture out for Lake trout and see what we can do, our luck has been awsome up till now.

Oh ya I forgot the Crappie and Walleye.

The meal (Spicey Thai Crappie)

Now the next day still have a full belly of crappie we head out for lake trout. The traditional white tube tipped with a minnow, turn the ice 45 on and the bottom 10 feet is rich with smell jig the tube at 45 feet down in 60 feet of water, and low and behold, 35 inches of fun.

That big fish is still swimming today, so hopefully someone else can catch him.

That was the perfect end to a perfect few days fishing, we lost one other fish on that lake trout trip.

Now what should we go for next, brook trout, jumbo perch or maybe pike I am just not sure..

All the best to everyone on the hardwater this weekend.

Great report. Nice fish. Gotta get me one of those smokers. Oh ya, then I would have to be able to catch fish to put in it. Darn!! I hate a flawed plan.
