Hey
For any of you in the GTA or want to make the drive to BPS they have a really good sale on right now - think its their way of competing with the Toronto Outdoors show that starts next week
Great deals on baits, lines, reels, rods and boating stuff
We checked it out last week and were not disappointed - lots of variety and some bargain burner deals (packs of some yum plastics for 98 cents a bag, rapala line for $1 a spool

Here's a link to the flyer

Cheers

It's like pulling into your favorite bay which you have fished for years and along comes another boat and pulls up in front of you and begins fishing.
I live in Pickering and won't shop there because of what they're doing to the institution that is the Toronto Sportsman Show. Shop Canadian in these tough times.

What is it that they're doing to the sportsman show??.. I've actually never been (first time will be this season) but if it's anything like what henry's is like at the photography shows it sponsors I get the idea...

You are right... but in practice it is hard to do.

I bought a Chev. No other reason than the price and size of the car (3 kids wife and me @ 6 foot 3) $20k won't get you a shiny Honda Accord or Toyota Camry... but what a deal I got on my Impala.

Now I tell people that I bought it to support the local North American economy. It is not true... it just makes me feel better.

I like the Mom and Pop hardware stores, but when I buy lumber I save about 10 or 15% getting it at the big box stores. I do feel a *little* guilty.. but not for long.

Same thing when it comes to anything else. Groceries and fishing equipment. For the most part, I go for the best bang for the buck. I can't afford to be that high minded when it comes to $.

But if the $ difference is negligible.. +/- 5%, I will always make the effort to support locals. (Well.. as local a possible!)

Just my $0.02!

BTW... about the BPS specials... NICE price on the Shimano Stradic reel! They are all over $200 at Lebarron this year.

By setting up there show earlier, they are going to make sales that would have normally been made down at the Sportsman show. Some of the smaller independent stores may loose a percentage of there sales because of this and the money will end up in the States not Canada. Bass Pro should have done the right thing and held there show a week later.

Internet deals are even better and they are offered year round. It's called competition and the consumer is the winner.

The idea of paying an admission to shop at a sportsman's show is kind of dumb to begin with.

Just so every one knows, this is an annual 3 week event at ALL bass pro shops stores throughout ALL of North America. This was not targeted at Toronto or Canada.

Why would Bass Pro Shops adjust an international campaign for one show in Toronto? In case you are not aware of this, there are numerous major outdoor shows all across the USA and Canada this time of year.

Frankly, some of the BPS deals are great (mostly house brand stuff) but many other prices are no better than those at your local shops.
