Creating structure for bass

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Creating structure for bass

Post by OBD »

Anybody ever thought of making structure for bass in the local community holes? Would it be legal to throw in a couple Christmas trees attached by a cement block into a couple areas? Or would it be illegal since it would be a boating hazard even in 20FOW?

Any thoughts is appreciated

Is there a shortage of bass?

Creating structure is for cheaters. If you are too lazy to take the time to search out natural structure that hold bass, you might as well just head to your local fish market and buy some fish. http://www.lapointefish.ca/

Before putting in artificial structure, you should have to submit an enviromental impact study. How is everthing else around it affected?

Now if you were talking about submerging something like a milk crate (I think D Cronzy does this at his private lake) around natural spawning areas creating a safe house for baby bass from larger predators so there are more bass in the future. That could be viewed as promoting the bass fisherie but you should check with the MNR first before dumping anything into the water.

I know a tournament fisherman who once moved a massive underwater woodpile and spread it out because he knew he would not make it there first on the morning of the tournament. That's cheating. That's BS.

Creating structure is not cheating - it's being proactive

And it works! 8) 8)

I don't know what regulations are but I assume MNR would be able to tell you or atleast point you in the right direction.

i dont believe the question was about cheating... i think it was more directed towards the legal side of the issue... everyone is entitled to their own opinions but when asked if something is legal to do, i wouldn't suggest that calling people cheaters is of any help... not trying to stirr anything up, but lets try to help each other and make each other more informed,

Nodie I think that your best bet is to ask the MNR about this. We all have different views about what should be legal or not. I know that it is illegal to change the shoreline unless you have all applicable licenses, but I am not sure about the legality of dropping stuff in the water for structure. I would say I think it wouldn't be legal.

And about it being considered cheating   Give me a break!!!!

they blow some monster boats that sink in the st lawrence and the oceans to make structure for divers to go see. and its ok,,but they need permit to do so.

but those are huge.

if you read that ...crappies magasine about crappy fishing you will see what keid off structure they put and make themself.

easy to make..but again not something that people will get caught in.

but some structure and put and took back after fishing truly.
