ice fishing Arnprior/Braeside

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

ice fishing Arnprior/Braeside

Post by lenb12 »

Hi Everyone :

Does anyone know of ice thickness on the Ottawa River near Neilson St. in Braeside near Arnprior(Sandy Hook Bait and Tackle used to be a business there). I am assuming that the ice fishing is now over due to unsafe conditions near the shoreline etc.

Not much open on the ottawa any more, regardless of ice conditions.

Lots of ice there yet, my dad fished it all week. Cant say that for fish though.

Might have troubles getting on the ice, might be a little wet near shore.

Hey Len,

I don't know the ice thickness, but it is really unsafe at the shoreline.
Living only about 5-mins away, I went to check it out.
There is nobody out on the ice.

Cheers,
Scott

thanks very much Scott, Relic and Ottis. I am not going out there because I want to live longer. Fishing is an obsession with me, but I also want to live longer !

Drove from here to North Bay, Huntsville and down to Toronto and back on Wednesday and was very surprised to see open water everywhere. Muskrat was ice free and most of the Ottawa up that way to The Swish and past were all free of ice. Cant wait to get out on the water again.

Hey RJ, how much ice on Muskrat? There was nearly 20 inches last weekend.

The pond at the orleans golf course isn't even ice free yet.

I don't give out ice conditions in case you go out with a quad and go for a swim and blame me.

I fished there today.

I would like to go fishing tomorrow. Do you now a place where I could go?

I have some live minnows and everything for ICE fishing / shore fishing.

You are so sensitive... :?

The only section you may have seen of Muskrat being open is the river as you pass over it on 17....I'd hardly call that ice free...
