OVSB had their opening pike pickerel tourny this past sunday May 30 on the rideau river at blacks rapids. Cool, but sunny start to the day, with lots of smiling faces to greet the morning. I had a great time even though i had a livewell pump switch failure to deal with straight off. My partner Craig went straight to fishing, although he took the catch n release concept a bit to serious by releasing the first pickerel at the side of the boat and not in the livewell. Pike were in short supply as we tried a few spots. Caught one but it had these funny vertical bars on its side so we let it go. It was great fishing on such a small body of water you were always waving or stopping to talk (hasselling, sparring, lieing to) with a club member. Brian H and Jim W were in fine form and caught a nice tourny winning pickerel on some worms. The president most exalted Tim B and Claude B landed a pike of sufficient size to beat out all other comers. Tony M and Murray R showed of their new rides, "stay out of my way boys I've got an old aluminum boat and am not afraid to use it"! Meeting/barbegue afterwards at Claudes new digs, thanks buddy for the great hospitality and friendship!! :)
Great time talking to all members and some of the significant others. I'm looking forward to a great season, some fun times. Hoping to get out with some of the members on some pre trips and any other excuse to go fishing.

JimW, I was curious as to how you did on Sunday. How did you finish?

Jim seem to be a little down on energy (seems somebody at Muskrat kept him up to late :P Hes a growing boy and needs his beauty rest.

Markus,

My partner and I boated 5 walleye on Sunday between 1 and 4 pounds, all caught on worm harnesses. Which was great since I didn't get any at Muskrat.
