I am tentatively planning a trip with some friends in Sept. to do some bass fishing. What is the bass fishing like at that time of year and in general in this area, and is their better choices that are close by? We would be renting a cottage for a weekend with 6-8 guys. I don't know much about the area, but we would like to stay within 1.5 to 2 hours from Kingston.
Thanks.

Bass fishing that time of the year is insane, The rideau lakes, ottawa river, rideau river, most of the tournaments are done by then also. check some tournament sites to make sure though, don't want to hit a spot with 50 bass teams to compete with.

Bass fishing can be phenomenal at that time of year. As cancatchbass said, lots of tournaments on in area! So pick the right time
My best luck is with the smallies....lots of them and some dandies!! 3-4 lbers.
Fish usually shoals or mid-lake drop off areas.
Also largemouth bass, but usually don't target them!!
Walleye fishing also great!!

I've never fished the lake but I've fished smallies all over that river. Ragged Chutes, Kings Chutes, Stump Lake, Playfairville, Fergusons Falls, Mals Campground, Sheridans Rapids. Bass fishing is great all over the Mississippi. Have fun.
