road trip report day 2

Woke up to a cold and windy morning in Kenora Ontario. The first thing that crossed my mind was “whats the fishing going to be like in this weatherâ€
Briefly… not good… The night before I had some time on my hands so I went scouting the back roads for a good place to fish from. I thought I found it… I also found something at this place that tickeled the 13 year old portion of my brain….

The pay per use boat conveyor…. I had never seen anything like this before , but as I investigated my 13 year old voice inside of me kept saying, get your boat, come up here and try this thing out!
Pics describe basically whats its for… you drive your boat onto the ramp,

plug in your loonies/tokens

push the button to go up or down the falls,

and watch the boat slide onto the conveyor belt…. ISNT THAT COOL!!!!!!!!

As for the fishing,,,,,, well I drove to Atikokan today and stopped at likely about a dozen spots, all I saw was a trout follow my hook on one retrieve and that was it!...
I did see a couple of guys trying to net some suckers that were spawning in the rapids... the local guy hires a native to allow him to net fish, he uses the suckers in his leech traps.

Maybe tomorrow will be better. Ill be driving from Atikokan to Thunder bay and will have lots of time to stop and fish.
