Are you serious? You drug the fish so you lose the fun of catching them?

what they actually use are the anestetic properties of certain plants. break down the fibres and wash them in the river they are fishing. it's a traditional way of fishing. saw it on tv once.
i think that's what he means.

bm_attar guy what you say is right.
we take some special stuff and mix with bait. the carp bite hook with bait and get nummed
this way you dont need to bring fish in boat right away. you wait until you have a lot at end of day
I never try here yet

Hi Green Dragon - the short answer is that we do not do that here and hope that nobody else does. In Canada we fish for sport - now that you have arrived in our fair country and have a fishing license, please read the rules and regulations - the method that you mention is not legal. You are most welcome to our country and to fish our waters, but please have respect for the environment, the resources, and your fellow fishermen that release a lot of fish back into the ecosystem for our future generations to enjoy.

Not that I agree with what Green Dragon is saying but I could not find where it is illegal to drug a fish??? If we are telling him it is illegal and to check the regs maybe post which page it is on. I could not see anything.
Green Dragon. If this is not illegal it is just not the way it should be done..No sport anymore. Fishing is for sport and fun...try a worm and hook.

Since he already said that he used a hook soaked in drug! Here is the definition of Angling and Bait from Page 7 of the regs:
Angling – Angling means fishing with a line to which one to four
hooks are attached and that is held in the hand or closely attended.
and the definition of bait:
Bait – There are some areas of the province where the use of any
form of organic bait is not allowed. Organic bait includes live or
dead animals, plants or parts. See Bait (page 10), or exceptions
to the Zone regulations for the Zone where you are fishing.
In the definition of Bait, the key here is organic and plants or parts. I believe in Green Dragons post, it would fall under the plant category, and I feel that the MNR may be able to charge him. He would have to certainly check the exceptions section for the zone he is fishing in. When in doubt, don't do it!
Here is the link to the regs:
