Lake Trout Opener - May 23-25

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lake Trout Opener - May 23-25

Post by bradford2 »

I convinced my Dad and Grandfather to head up from SW Ontario to do some lake trout fishing with me. We don't all get to fish together very often so it was definately a special weekend.

It wasn't a hardcore fishing weekend... mainly fish a few hours, then go eat. Fish a few hours.... and eat again. We had a cottage on the lake, so that helps

Anyway, fish were mostly scattered and we'd get a few off each spot we tried. Mainly mid lake humps. We were jigging for them close to bottom with heavy spoons.

We were able to have a great fish fry and still release lots of fish. Biggest was the last one I caught (and after they left for home on Monday) and was 4oz shy of 10lbs.

Hopefully we'll be able to do it again next year!
