Those weekends you wish would never end..

Bit late on this one but here it goes..

Got to the cottage Saturday night and was able to get out for a few hours by myself before anyone else got up there which was nice. Plan was to bottom bounce around known areas the and try to locate a few fish then anchor and vertical jig them once found. I started off in 20FOW with a 2oz bouncer and Northland spinner rig and crawler, just trolling fast enough with the electric to keep the blades on the harness spinning. Trolled around in 'S' patterns for a while from 17-22FOW and managed to pick up 3 walleyes in the first hour. It was a tough bite the first night and the fish were scattered and finicky. I figured the high water would have played a big factor. I continued to bounce around riff-raffs and one transition spot with no more luck. The three fish I caught trolling that night ended up being the biggest I caught all weekend and had to be tossed back. I had 2 at 17'' and another fish I didn't measure but was well around 20''. Another two lads from Ottawa I was chatting with that night had caught 2 walleyes over 20'' and a 17lbs sturgeon.

The rest of the weekend was pretty much just a slay fest as soon as Jiggy made it up there and like promised, RIVERKILLER and his good pal Joe joined us for a morning of walleye wacking. They arrived at the cottage at 5:30 and after a quick launch we were off and catching fish by 6. Lost count how many walleye were even caught  Everyone managed some really nice fish. Multiple double headers were had and even a few triple header battles, 2-3-4lbers smacking boatboatside and flipping off was a common sight  Most fish were in the slot or just over. Had one of my best two mornings for walleye(And I bet I can say the same for the other fellas) I have had in a while! Biggest fish to make it in the boat was a solid 4lbs. 80% of the fish Jig Head and I caught were on both GULP minnows and Storm finnese shads and small drop-shot style baits. RIVERKILLER picked us up some minnows but didn't last too long.

Sorry for the lack of photo's...The action was too fast to take any photo's...I was able to slow down a bit last weekend and take some nice shot but will add them into my next post. I figure we put around 40-50 walleyes in our boat alone in two days. Did keep a bunch as well.

Some big pike were also caught(As you can see from my avatar) but the pictures are on my dads laptop. Looking forward to sharing those in my next post as well.

RIVERKILLER and Joe joined us for a morning of walleyes and backlake exploring. I think they really had a great time.

My first walleye of the night.

Heaviest jig head in the box was needed to get baits straight down to the fish

Jig Head with one of many he caught in the slot.

Joe was able to put more than a few nice fish in the net that morning.

RIVERKILLER with a shorty but fat pike. He also missed the biggest fish of the morning...The knob thought he could flip them all in the boat
