Got 2 topwater lures from a buddy. Has small propeller on the rear that when it moves...so do the 4 legs(kinda look like small pipe cleaners). He says he got them in US a long time ago but can't remember where.
Any help/info would be most appreciated.
Don't know how to post photos!!

With or without the ridiculous "legs" it could work for smallmouth.
I've never seen this strange get up before!

Actually the old feller who gave them to me said they
did in fact catch fish!! He said it was a pain in the butt to straighten the "crazy legs" after a good size fish. I tried one out in my pool and the action is quite unique.
I don't think I will try it on the lake just yet.
Did some checking on "collectability" on the web last night and I would hate lose one!
I think I am gonna make a few next time I get busy on the lathe.....but MUSKY SIZE!!
thanks all for the help,

So FT...do the legs move due to water current or does that prop in the back make them move by cranks etc inside??

Hey FT, simplify your fishing buddy, go buy a couple of Chug Bugs

and Skitter Props

...if they don't get it done...go home or fish a jig ...jigs always work
Have a great summer

almontefisher- the legs are moved by a shaft turned by the propeller. I'm gonna see if I can get 1 Xrayed so I can see details. If not I will take one apart.
Big Jim- I have ALL sorts of topwaters(lure Junkie!!) Many chug bugs/skitter pops/props and dozens others. Some are factory original, some modified..by me. Some work better than originals, some don't.
I love to tinker with tackle and make many of my own.
THERE IS NOT BETTER RUSH THAN TO HAVE ONE OF YOUR OWN HAND MADE LURES BE NAILED BY A GOOD SIZED FISH.....
ALMOST as good as sex!! Note that I said ALMOST!

!LOL
I have a buddy who makes "baby bird" lures. These things look so realistic it is scary. He makes them during the winter and using them in the summer. Sometimes he will only get 1-2 fish before the "birds" goose is cooked!! Especially if he nails a Musky...makes short order of that lure.
I think it is a lot of work...but he enjoys it.
YOU have a great summer, yourself!!
Maybe we wil see you 'On the water"
