Charleston Lake

Heading out to Charleston Lake to go camping and fishing this weekend. Curious as to what fish are in the lake. I am going to have a few kids with us including my 3 year old niece who wants to catch a fish. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!!! Will post a report soon as we get back.....

Charleston has SM and LM Bass, Pike and Lakers. If you are there early on in the year you have a chance of getting Lakers at shallower depths ( 30 - 60 FOW range) Come July they will be deep, It is a very deep lake so they take advantage of that to escape the heat. It becomes very hard to get them without down riggers once later in the season.

Lots of different types of water to fish, rock shoals, weeds, and channels. Bring a map if you want to get adventurous as it is a big body of water.

Lots of smaller fish you can get from shore. Rock bass to perch as well.

You'll find that the lakers are a bit of a challenge but as for the kids I remember both my young daughter and son catching panfish right from the shore and having a blast.

Thanks for the info...was hoping there would be catfish but apparently not.....

the kids will have fun that's what counts!

There are bullheads but not catfish.
