Quick report from my PB in Zimbabwe

So I thought I would share the pictures of mine and my brother, Garry's, personal bests. Both were caught on the same day which makes it even better. These were caught on Lake Manyame, in Zimbabwe, there is a Google Maps link at the end for those interested.
We never had a scale on the boat, pity, as I would have loved to know their exact weights. Any guesses on their weights ???
My one.
and then Garry's one which was bigger....and he has never let me forget it
I could not get him to stand still to take the picture...he just kept on saying " it's soo big....it's so big....man...look how big it is "
If I remember correctly, my brother caught his on a 8inch green power worm, in about 15ft of water....and I think I caught mine on a 5inch green trick worm in about 8ft of water. It was a great day, and 2 brothers catching personal bests on the same day made it even better. We definitely had a few cold ones that evening.
Google maps link for those interested.

Almontefisher, I believe in the late 80's, a few of the Lakes in Zimbabwe were stocked with "Florida strain" Largemouth Bass, so I would guess that's what we were catching. There were rumours that some Smallmouth were stocked in an area called Inyanga, it's has the coldest running rivers in the country, but I cannot confirm this. I never came across anyone who had ever caught a smallmouth in Zim.
Don't worry, I am sure your personal best in all the other species far out weighs mine...heck I have not even caught a Walleye yet

Wow, so was the trip a fishing trip from the get go?
Great fish, I will guess 10-12 lbs on the first one and 12-14 on the second?

Yep, the trip was a fishing trip bl8ant. The lake was about 1hour drive from where I lived in Harare. It is a very popular lake, and there are numerous tournaments there throughout the year. The Zimbabwe largemouth record also came out of that lake a few years ago...believe it was just over 18 pounds...it was an awesome fish, I will see if I can find any pictures from old news articles.

Woah..... I was not expecting to see the giant largies!
Who needs Mexico!
Can you get good numbers of bass in your lakes back home? I'd say your brothers fish has gotta be pushing 15..... not that I've ever seen one half that big!

bradford2, I would say on the larger lakes it was very rare not to get your 5 fish limit...and there was always someone with a good 6 or 7 pounder. Some of the smaller lakes ( or Dams as we called them ) could be more tricky though. Even the best guys in our club got skunked a few times on the smaller lakes.
Yeah, we had also guessed around 14 or 15pounds for Garry's fish...and around 11pounds for mine.
