I'm sure no too many fisherman know that you can't keep any sturgeon from Ottawa River. There was sturgeon poster and explanation that you can't keep them at the Blair boat lunch but someone bent the post and damaged the sign.

what do you want to do with a dinosaur?
eat there eggs?

save the bottom feeders there cleaning the river go eat a pike or a bass.
dont kill a fish thats older than you thats just not right.

http://www.fish-hawk.net/index.php?page=89
i will have to say there is a prob going wit sturgeons there less and less off it.in the ottawa river.
BUT why the he?? is there still 2 commercial fisherman allowed to catch them on the ottawa river..

..there allowed a certasin amouth off strgeons
do we still have anuaght fish to keep those commercial fishermans going and going..nope.
so for the sack off the strgeons those commercial fisherman should be stop.
at least say to the mner that its a none sense to still do that.
i still keep once a while sturgeons frome the gatineau river wen i get some..been while..
sturgeons is one off the best fish wen smoke.
and great in fish soup(showder).

Joco- I've got a good spot for Sturgeon, on the Gatineau. I wouldn't recommend using your Yak there, but if you've got a boat... I'll let you know the next time I go up, and have an open seat.
At that spot, I caught a 20 pounder during the May 24 weekend (I know it was OOS, I was fishing fro walleye). On father's day, I went back with my dad and we boated 4. Smallest was 8 pounds, biggest was just over 12.
GR8-Scott (I know you're reading): You missed a good outing.
Joco: Good job clearing up the regs regarding Sturgeon on the Ottawa. I didn't know that they were being commercially fished. That type of stuff should be outlawed! Especially considering how very few of these fish there actually is!

I'm also speechless that commercial fishing is allowed on the Ottawa river.
