Upper Stony lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Upper Stony lake

Post by CCLad »

Hi folk's, I'm hoping to get a little insight on walleye fishing the Upper Stony. I'm going up to a friends cottage (He's not much of a fisherman - ex hockey player) but his kids love to fish. They have caught some bass off of docks before, but I would like to be able to expose/show them some other techniques targeting walleye.

I realize that there are many hazards in the lake pertaining to shoals/rock piles etc, I'll keep my eye's on the finder!..... Basically an area or two, perhaps a tip on a hot technique that produced well recently would be greatly appreciated.......

I ask only because his boy's are "Jacked to go" and I have pretty much 1 day Sat/Sat eve to get them into some eye's - and it's a big lake. If anyone has a map with depth's please PM me.. :D

Thanks in advance,

CC Lad.

1-If you are in the weeds, try "rip jigging" some bucktail jigs. Just cast them out and reel up the slack and give'm a RIP(2-3 feet) and repeat. HANG ON!
2-Deeper water- try bottom bouncers with minnows or GULP! minnows and if you have them.....Slow Death hhoks with worms or Gulp minnows.
3- If drifting just drag a tube or senko style bait(natural colours).

BE CAREFUL!!! It is called Stony Lake for GOOD REASON.

PM me and I will send you a scanned copy of a map but it IS a BIG file so make sure you can receive it.

GOOD Luck :D
