Well I've been having amazing success this year on Lac Grand/Vert near Val-Des-Monts... only 25 minutes from downtown!

I've caught my PB Lake Trout, Bass and Pike all on this lake... well specifically on Lac Vert. The Lake Trout fishing is really something... caught a few 8-9 pounders last time and lots of 4-5 pounders. My biggest pike on Lac Vert is about 18 pounds. The bass fishing is really amazing too as well. But no walleye... oh well Haven't seen a perch either.

I just can't get over how easy it is to catch fish there... big fish too. And only 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa... kind of unreal!

Lac Grand is pretty big but Lac vert is small and connected by a little channel that's about 3-4 feet deep. If you go and you should... don't even bother fishing Lac Grand... go straight to Lac Vert. You'll have to launch on Lac Grand though. Its a private road on lac Vert and there's no launch. Just boat over to Lac Vert right away... only a few minutes boat ride.

I thought McGregor was good fishing until I went to Lac Vert... no more... its all about Lac Vert now!!

And I can't get over how close it is to Ottawa... awesome. I wonder if they stock it? I've caught nice lakers everytime I've been there just trolling spoons!

By far the best Lake Trout spot I've ever been to... and its so close too Ottawa!! Did I mention that yet?

Lac Vert = Big Lakers, Big Pike, Big Bass!!!

I guess so... seems public. I always launch there without any problems. No signs saying its private. Big and decent enough condition too. Its not sign posted as you go in though. You just have to drive in on the main road and watch for it on the left as you go by lots of cottages.

The end of that road runs up to Lac Vert and that section is private but sign posted. Thats why you have to boat through the channel to get into Lac Vert. It looks like the channel doesn't go anywhere but it turns and then opens up into Lac Vert aka the Laker Hot Spot!

Forgot to add that the lake and road shows up on Google Maps too if that helps to get an idea of where the launch is. Its really easy to find anyway... and even if it wasn't the fishing is good enough to make it worth it anyway !

But it is easy to find.

Right onto Chemin Du Barrage just past Val-Des-Monts and then look for it on the left in between lots of cottages.

Lac Vert only has a couple of cottages on it, nice scenic little lake with some greenish deep water. Once you get past the little channel to get in. Its shallow but I've seen a few ski-boats and some bigger pontoon boats go through... no problem.

Looking at google maps I see Lac Montange connected to Grand lac by a small channel and near chemin Barrage ? Could that be Lac Vert ? Would be nice to find something closer than a 3 hour drive for day trips .

Maybe... it is at the most eastern part of Lac Grand. There's another small lake that's north and higher up that flows down some little rapids/waterfalls into Lac Grand. Easy to find anyway as the channel to lac Vert is boatable and the rapids are not.

Also above Lac Vert and slightly south is another small lake higher in the hills. Maybe that's called Montagne as it is pretty high up on the mountain.

An easy way to find it is just remember that the road Barrage ends at the end of Lac Vert. Its just that it is supposed to be a private road for the few cottages on there but if you drove up just to get your bearings then came back it'd be okay.

Very smelly!!

Google Maps has `Lac Vert` labelled as Lac de la Montagne. Maybe everyone just calls it Lac vert because the water has a green colour.

So whatever its called... thats the Laker spot! `

And the launch is on the section of road that leads up to lac de la Montagne/vert.

Yes, that is the one. Either Google maps has it mislabelled or people just call it Lac Vert due to the Greenish colour.
