I will be in Ottawa for the weekend due to a family trip. I believe we will be in downtown or very close to it. I will be fishing from shore with my lio bro and dad.

I am strictly a lmb kind of guy - but will try for smb.

Does anyone have any shore suggestions?

Thx

The Rideau river has a bunch of LMB in it, I hear under the Bronson or Bank bridge is good

Dow's Lake, and along the canal is worth a try. Black wave worm with blue flecks is my go to worm (rigged texas style). The Rideau River at Strathcona Park is pretty good if you don't mind a little wading. The fly fishing guys could give you a better heads up on the wading conditions there.

Thx all

personally I don't mind if I don't catch fish, but I want them to catch something. They will be throwing plastics, so which of the above areas are best?

Thx

Dow's Lake on the east side, from the boardwalk up to the Bronson Bridge. The area at the bridge is usually good. The area near the Canal Ritz has some potential as well, and along the small island across from Lansdowne Park.

Dow's lake near the bridge worked like a charm. I was on the side with the marina. Fished the slop for 15mins with a frog and caught a 2.5 - 3 lbs bass. It was fairly thin so more on the 2.5ish side.

There is another side of the lake I fished really quickly, and had a bite but no hookups.

So thanks all

I'm actully in Orleans. Are there any area in this city I can fish the frog?

look up Petrie Island. it's in orleans, and has great shore fishing ops.

head north bound on Trim Road, all the way to the river.

if you go, try using a crayfish pattern jig, near any of the logs that are near the shoreline.

lots of largemouth. if you want smallies just head east towards Rockland, the boat launch always produces couple piggies!
