Yesterday after the ORWL event on the Mississippi we were all pulling our boats out at Baitcasters. When my turn came I noticed my chains were dragging on the ground! I never unhook my chains. As it turns out everyones chains from their trailers to their vehicles had been unhooked and to make matters worse the hitch pins from many of the hitches had been pulled out and some tossed into the bushes. Some of us have locks on them so they cant be pulled but this is just plain stupid behaviour and a demonstration that people dont think of the consequenses of their actions.
One trailer did unhook , luckily no damage.
Of course it is always a good idea to check you rig out every time but sometimes you dont think of it.

and that's why you should check your connections everytime you're about to leave. like when you adjust your car mirrors before driving.

And you launched from Baitcasters??? Was Mike bored that evening?? I know at Grasshopper point there are a few cottagers and landowners that have an issue with the launch and have been known to deflat some trailer tires etc but wow...

I pitty the fool that gets caught touching my rig....unreal, some people eh

It was just good luck that no injury or real damage was done - hopefully we have all learned a lesson from it - check & double check your rigs before leaving and lock down everything possible.

WOW! Can't believe someone would do this, that is really stupid. A good reminder though to always check.

I blew a tire on my trailer earlier this summer, and I am not sure what the cause was. I could of just ran over something, but maybe if I had checked the tires before it could have been prevented if the problem already existed.

A great post! Always check your connections, lights, tires, straps, boat for lose items, etc.

There were several kids around when I got there but they seemed quite young to know how to do what was done.
I agree it would have had to be someone really close and bitter and would have to know that Mike and Crystal were not there.

Dont know of any members that are disgruntled, though Almontefisher has yet to come out to an event so maybe he is planning on coming out and thought this would be his way to get caught up on points if no one had a boat for the last couple of events. Sorry Pete

there's nobody with an axe to grind...there was a bunch of 12/13 yr olds around earlier in the day apparently...Most likely just them being STUPID

I heard about this late last wk. I bought a locking pin at Princess Auto last Friday just to be on the safe side. My son and I have been launching at Grasshopper point and was surprised to read that some locals have issues with launching here. Not to sound paranoid but from now on I will carry a tire pump in the vehicle.
