I'm coming from Texas to our family cabin over near Chaffeys Lock to fish. From our cabin I have access to lower rock, upper rock and stonehouse lakes. Does anyone know anything about lake trout on those lakes. My wife and kids visit the cabin every couple of years and we usally just bass fish and perch jerk. I've heard that there are lake trout in those lakes. Can anyone confirm. What do I use to catch them. Are they deep.

Thanks

Kris

Hi Kris
I grew up in Chaffey's and still return on a regular basis. Upper rock lake is a popular spot to be in the wnter for ice fishing. The lake is on the annual stocking list for splake. I've only fished it in the winter but it always produces decent numbers with the occaisional 3-5 lb fish being iced. I would think that summer time catches shouldn't be too difficult by trolling or jigging with spoons...there are quite a few splake caught on Indian lake right in Chaffey's that way. Also, I have caught splake in Opinicon lake at the lock....I think that they went over the by-wash from Indian. The guys at Brown's marina would probably have more info for you as some of them are fishermen. I am not familiar with the last lake you mentioned..sorry. Where abouts is your cottage? Have a great trip.

There is a very decent population of small and largemouth bass in the this lake. The guys from work indicated that Stonehouse has a ton of smallmouth bass but apparently a stunted population. No info on lower rock. Mitch
