How do you keep the bullet sinker from sliding?

I'm playing around with different tube methods and one has a bullet sinker on the end of it. It requires you to keep the sinker tight to the tube at all time, but how do you keep it from sliding?

I read on this site something about a tooth pick? I've tried putting a very small split sinker on top of it, but that just looks silly. So what do you guys do?

Cheers!

S.T,The tooth pic method is very efective. You just break off a small peice of the pick so your weight does not slide. This is a easy and inexpensive way to stop the weight from sliding. You may also get small pinch weights to clamp on top (a split shot will do in a # 4 or 6)

But the best is a Florida weight that screws into the top of your plastic, and remains for a lack of better words (stay put)A bit pricy but worth it every time!!!!!

Hope this helps S.T :D

Thanks alot, especially for explaining the tooth pick thing... I was just perplexed sitting here with a toothpick in my hand and line with a bullet sinker in the other hand. I've seen those sinkers that screw into the plastics, maybe I will invest. I'll try the toothpick way, but if it ends up being a bug I'll go with the split shot. Thanks again :D

Hey SNAG THIS.

In my opinion you should go an invest in the GAMBLER screw in type bullet sinker. It would be a lot less hassle, also you could use it with other types of plastic, and the price is not so bad.

Try the E-Z Rig from Lindy, it is an insert weight with or without rattles. You stick it in the tube and texas rig your hook, just make sure you get it in the hole in the weight when you rig it. They work great, I used them a lot last year.

Snagthis,

I use a "bobber stop". Kind of fitting for my name don't ya think. Just put the bobber stop on your line before you add the bullet sinker, tie on your hook, then slid the bobber stopper and the bullet sinker snug against your bait. Holds it well.

Just remember Snagthis, some times you won't want to peg it, To peg or not to peg, lots of discussions on this one.

Thanks guys, I'll look for those items next time I go to Le Baron, which I'm holding off for alteast at week... last time I went there I nearly spent $100!

Bass Ackwards, I've heard sometimes that you don't need to use anything and it works to just let it slide, I've tried it before with a plastic worm. But for this method I'm following the instructions of the tube rigging tips, from this website. I didn't find i liked using it without pegging it, I found I had less control over the plastic, unless I was just doing something wrong.

I use a variation of a bobber stop. Instead of using the ones that you buy I simply tie a small diameter elastic band around my line by first wrapping each end of the elastic band twice around the main line, I then tie the two end of the elastic band together with an overhand knot, and finally trim off the tag ends.

I like this because, it's cheap :) you can add or remove the stop without having to remove the rest of the terminal tackle and it doesn't hurt your main line in any way.
